Backgrounds

Transform your recordings with professional-looking backgrounds. The background fills the canvas area around your screen recording, turning a raw capture into a polished presentation.

Background Types

Wallpaper Images

Browse a curated library of wallpaper images organized by category. Select a wallpaper to use as your recording backdrop. This is the quickest way to get a professional look.

Gradient Backgrounds

Choose from preset gradient combinations. Gradients provide a clean, modern look that works well for software demos and presentations.

Solid Colors

Apply a simple solid color background using the color picker. Solid colors are great for a minimal look or when you want the focus entirely on your screen content.

Background Settings

Padding

Adjust the padding (spacing) around your recording content within the canvas. More padding shows more of the background and creates a “framed” look; less padding maximizes the screen recording area.

Corner Radius

Round the corners of your screen recording within the background. This gives a softer, more modern appearance compared to sharp rectangular edges.

Background Blur

Apply a blur effect to the background. This is especially useful with wallpaper images — a blurred background keeps the visual interest without distracting from the screen recording content.

Background Shadow

Add a shadow behind your screen recording for depth and dimension. Adjust the shadow intensity to control how prominent the effect is. Combined with padding and corner radius, shadows make your recording appear to “float” over the background.

Canvas Aspect Ratio

Change the overall aspect ratio of the final video canvas. This is independent of your recording’s native aspect ratio — the recording is placed within the canvas, with the background filling the remaining space.

Available aspect ratios:

RatioDimensionsUse Case
AutoMatches sourceDefault — no letterboxing
16:9Landscape wideYouTube, presentations
9:16Portrait tallInstagram Reels, TikTok, Shorts
4:3Classic landscapeTraditional presentations
3:4Classic portraitPortrait content
1:1SquareInstagram posts, social media
4:5TallInstagram feed photos
5:4Slightly widePhotography standard

Changing the aspect ratio is especially useful when repurposing a recording for different platforms — for example, converting a 16:9 tutorial into a 9:16 vertical video for mobile social media.

Tips

  • Padding + gradient is a versatile combination that works for almost any recording.
  • Use blur with wallpaper images to keep the background visually interesting without competing with the content.
  • Shadow + corner radius together create a modern, floating card appearance.
  • Choose a 9:16 aspect ratio with extra padding to repurpose horizontal recordings for vertical video platforms.
