recorded.app Terms of Service
These Terms govern the use of the recorded.app service ("Service") provided by the Recorded.App Team ("Company") and define the rights, obligations, and responsibilities between the Company and users. You must agree to these Terms to use the Service.
Article 1 (Description of Service)
Recorded is a professional screen recording application available for macOS and Windows. It provides screen capture, audio recording, webcam recording, and video editing features.
Article 2 (Acceptance of Terms)
By installing and using this application, you are deemed to have agreed to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you cannot use the Service.
Article 3 (Plans and Payment)
The Service is offered as a free plan and paid plans (monthly and annual subscriptions). Paid plans provide additional features and extended services. Details of each plan can be found on the recorded.app website.
Payment is processed through the recorded.app website.
Article 4 (Subscription Renewal and Cancellation)
Paid subscriptions are automatically renewed at the end of the subscription period unless cancelled by the user. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time on the recorded.app website, and the Service can be used until the end of the current billing period after cancellation.
Shared links created by the user will be deleted upon subscription cancellation.
Article 5 (Refund Policy)
Refunds can be requested within 7 days from the date of payment for paid subscriptions.
However, refunds may be restricted in the following cases:
- Abnormal use of the Service (malicious use, fraudulent use, etc.)
Article 6 (Collection and Use of Personal Information)
The Company collects the following information through Google Analytics to improve the Service and enhance user experience:
- Device information (operating system, app version)
- Service usage records (feature usage frequency, navigation paths)
- MAC address (for device identification)
- Email address (collected only upon login)
Collected information is used solely for service quality improvement and statistical analysis, and is not provided to third parties without user consent.
Article 7 (System Permissions)
The following permissions are required to use the Service on macOS:
- Screen Recording permission: Required to provide screen capture functionality.
- Accessibility permission: Required to obtain mouse cursor and keyboard input information.
During screen recording, the following keyboard inputs are collected to display shortcut overlays in the video:
- Function keys (F1-F12)
- Special keys (Escape, Tab, Enter, Backspace, Space, etc.)
- Navigation keys (Arrow keys, Home, End, Page Up, Page Down, Insert, Delete)
- Modifier key combinations (keyboard shortcuts such as Ctrl+C, Cmd+V, etc.)
General text input (letters, numbers, symbols typed without modifier keys) is NOT collected. This feature is designed to capture only shortcut keys and function keys used during demonstrations.
These permissions are used solely for providing the Service, and collected information is stored locally on the user's device.
Article 8 (Content Storage and Sharing)
All recorded content is stored locally on the user's device. Only when the user explicitly creates a share link is the video uploaded to Company servers and shared with third parties who access the link.
Shared links created on the free plan may expire and be deleted after a certain period. Shared links will also be deleted upon cancellation of a paid plan subscription.
Article 9 (User Obligations)
Users must comply with the following:
- Do not record without consent from others
- Do not infringe on the rights of others, including copyrights and portrait rights
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations
- Do not use the Service for illegal purposes
Article 10 (Intellectual Property Rights)
All intellectual property rights of the Service and related software belong to the Company. Users may not copy, modify, distribute, or sell any part or all of the Service without prior written consent from the Company.
Article 11 (Disclaimer)
The Company is not responsible for the following:
- Service disruption due to user's own fault
- Unrealized profits expected by the user through the Service
- Legal disputes arising from content created by the user
- Service interruption due to force majeure such as natural disasters or war
Article 12 (Service Modification and Discontinuation)
The Company may modify or discontinue all or part of the Service as required for operational or technical reasons. Important changes will be announced in advance through the application.
Article 13 (Modification of Terms)
The Company may modify these Terms as necessary. Modified Terms will be announced through the application, and continued use of the Service after changes constitutes agreement to the modified Terms.
Article 14 (Dispute Resolution)
If a dispute arises in connection with these Terms, the Company and user shall resolve it through good faith consultation. If consultation fails, the dispute shall be resolved in a court with jurisdiction under the laws of the Republic of Korea.
