Cursor Customization
Make your cursor more visible and engaging in recordings. Recorded captures your cursor position and type throughout the recording, so you can fully customize its appearance in the editor after the fact.
Cursor Size
Adjust the cursor size from 12px to 256px. Larger cursors are easier for viewers to follow, especially in recordings that will be viewed at small sizes or on mobile devices. The default size works well for most 1080p recordings.
Cursor Presets
Choose from multiple built-in cursor styles. Presets change the visual appearance of the cursor while maintaining the correct position tracking from your recording.
Cursor Modes
Recorded offers three cursor display modes:
- Fixed — Uses a single preset for the entire recording, regardless of the actual cursor type.
- Dynamic — Uses a base preset but switches to different styles based on the cursor type. For example, the cursor might change from an arrow to a text beam when hovering over a text field.
- Custom — Lets you manually map each cursor type (arrow, pointer, text beam, grab, etc.) to a specific visual style.
Dynamic and Custom modes make your recording look more natural by reflecting the same cursor changes the viewer would see on their own screen.
Cursor Smoothing
Apply motion smoothing to reduce jittery cursor movement and create a more professional look:
- Off — Raw cursor positions as captured (fastest, most accurate)
- Low — Subtle smoothing that removes minor jitter
- Medium — Moderate smoothing for a polished feel
- High — Heavy smoothing for very smooth, cinematic cursor movement
Higher smoothing levels make the cursor appear to glide more naturally, but may introduce a slight delay in cursor response relative to the actual screen events.
Click Animations
Add visual effects when you click during the recording to help viewers see exactly where you’re clicking:
- None — No click animation
- Wave — A ripple wave effect that emanates from the click point
- Aura — A glowing aura effect around the cursor at the moment of click
Click animations draw attention to interactive moments and make tutorials much easier to follow.
Click Sounds
Add an audible click sound effect synchronized with your mouse clicks:
- Choose from multiple click sound presets
- Adjust the volume from 0% to 100%
- Click sounds are mixed into the audio during export
This is especially useful for recordings without narration, where click sounds give the viewer audio feedback about your actions.
Show / Hide Cursor
Toggle cursor visibility entirely. Hiding the cursor is useful for recordings where the cursor is distracting — for example, when showcasing a UI design or playing a presentation.
