Quality Settings

Fine-tune recording quality to balance file size and visual fidelity.

Frame Rate

Recorded supports two frame rate options:

  • 30 FPS — The default option. Produces smooth recordings with smaller file sizes. Suitable for most tutorials, presentations, and documentation.
  • 60 FPS — Double the frame rate for ultra-smooth motion. Ideal for recording fast-paced UI interactions, animations, games, or any content with rapid movement. Produces larger files.

Higher frame rates capture more detail in motion but increase file size and require more processing power during recording and export.

Resolution

Recorded captures at your display’s native resolution by default. During export, you can choose from several resolution options:

ResolutionDimensionsNotes
720p1280 x 720Compact files, good for web sharing
1080p1920 x 1080Full HD — the default export resolution
1440p2560 x 14402K — sharp detail for high-density displays
4K3840 x 2160Ultra HD — maximum clarity

Performance Tips

  • Close unnecessary applications before recording to free up CPU and memory resources.
  • Use 30 FPS unless you specifically need the smoother motion of 60 FPS — it cuts file size roughly in half.
  • Choose Monitor mode when possible — it is the most efficient capture mode on most systems.
  • Ensure adequate disk space — recordings are saved as raw video files before encoding, so long recordings can temporarily use several gigabytes.
  • Hardware acceleration is used automatically during export when a compatible GPU is detected, significantly reducing export time. See Hardware Acceleration for details.
